Corporate and Private days with Casting for Gold

Casting for Gold is offering something new for 2008. We’ve decided, due in part to incredible demand, to initiate corporate and private days up here in Norfolk. These days are your days so we will liaise with you at every twist and turn to make sure that you get exactly what you’ve dreamed of. Bearing in mind, of course, that fish are wild creatures and you should never work with children, animals or things with fins!

We see our strengths lying in four areas.

  • Predator Fishing. If it’s pike and / or perch you are after on beautiful, secluded waters where you won’t see another angler, then we can offer you some exciting options. Let’s say at once that the vast majority of fishing will be with lure or fly rather than bait. It will be mobile, interesting and very proactive. We rarely sit behind dead baits and buzzers unless conditions force us to. Mind you, this approach doesn’t come between us and some spectacular results. In 2006, for example, we took over twenty-five, twenty pound plus pike including three over thirty. Not too bad when you consider we only had seven days fishing!

Predator Fishing

  • Our track record on Estate Lakes is legendary. We have at our disposal half a dozen that are either private or very close to being so. Species include wild carp, crucians, tench and rudd. Once again, we encourage the more exciting techniques – stalking, float fishing, fishing off the top, the sort of fishing that really gets the adrenaline buzzing.

Estate Lakes

  • The Norfolk Rivers. John’s knowledge of the Wensum and Bure is renowned and he’s fished both rivers since the 1960s with catches that have entered the record books. We are fortunate to have a huge amount of access to the middle and upper rivers, a lot of which is private and most of which doesn’t see an angler from one season to the next. Species centre around barbel, chub and roach though perch and pike are an exciting add-on. We won’t guarantee you seven pound chub, two pound roach or fifteen pound barbel but at least you’ll know they are there close in front of you. These beautiful rivers will always remain a challenge but John can definitely do a lot to point you in the successful direction.

Estate Lakes

  • The Coast. This is as new and exciting for us as it is for you. The North Norfolk Coast is famed for its birdlife and its beauty but what is little known about is the fish stocks. Through 2006, John and Casting for Gold friends made determined efforts to unlock the secrets of the seashore. The fish species are mainly bass and mullet but there are also sea trout to be had if you know exactly where to locate them. Location is the key. These are desolate, lonely marsh heads, massively secretive, offering huge potential if you have an inkling where to start. Imagine it: the sun rises and the tide, crystal clear, wends it way through the lavender beds. Following the curtain of water come the mullet, huge shoals of fish up to eight pounds in weight. You can see them, they sparkle in the growing light. It’s like British bone-fishing and if you’re lucky to hook one on a small pheasant tail, for example, you will never want to do anything else summer long.

The Coast

Just four of the options on offer. Of course, food and wine will be provided to fit around the fishing. If you’re out at dawn, then perhaps it’s a serious brunch that you’ll be after. Or perhaps it will be a picnic in the shade as the afternoon heat builds and fishing tapers away. Or perhaps you just want to fish like a maniac day long and look forward to a grand supper in the evening. It doesn’t matter. The day, as we’ve said, is yours. What you want, we will do our utmost to make sure you get.

Of course, we can organise accommodation for you before and / or after the day in question. We can also suggest activities for a non-fishing partner or family.

But what we provide above all is fun and stimulation and an introduction to one of the most magical fishing counties in the United Kingdom.
